Church Leadership

Authority in each local congregation is set forth in the Word of God. 

The Head of the Church is Christ (Ephesians 5:23;Ephesians 1:22; Colossians 1:18)

Elders (also referred to as bishops, shepherds, pastors, overseers) are appointed according to the qualifications given in scripture (I Timothy 3:1-13; Tit 1:5-9; 1 Pet 5:1-5; Eph 4:11-16; Heb 13:7,17; John 13:1-20; John 10:1-19; Matt 20:20-28; Luke 22:24-27).  

Deacons are also authorized in Scripture (Acts 6:1-3;I Timothy 3:8-13). These men are chosen to lead the physical work of the local church under the authority of the appointed Elders. Deacons serve so the elders can perform their work of providing for the spiritual needs of the congregation.
